Amber, who used The Transfer Book to transfer to Scripps College Initially, the main reason I bought this book was because of the essays. I could find literally thousands of admission essay books but none of them (at least not that I know of) have essays specifically written by transfer students. This book had so many helpful tips and strategies and sample essays that it helped me tremendously in the process of writing my own essays. Besides the wonderful essay component, I was very surprised that the other part of this book was very good. It helped me a lot in my school selection process as well as getting on the right track to interviews were very helpful and interesting also. After years of reading College Confidential and VietAbroader, I thought I knew it all but I did not!

"All the schools that I applied to placed great import on the essay submissions of the applicants, and because of this I believe that Susan Wolf was essential to my success in the admissions process. It was great to have her look over my essays because her insistence that I write essays constructed specifically for the admissions staff helped me stay focused, and fully transfer my experiences into an essay format that would help ensure success. She put an amazing amount of effort into helping me, whether it was calling me up constantly to keep me on track, helping me edit in real time on Google Docs, or taking time out of her vacation to meet with me. She is great! " ~ Brian Joseff, Dartmouth Class of 2014

Teachers or counselors can reinforce taught concepts in spontaneously arising situations (Knaus, 1974, 1977a, 1977b, 2004; Knaus & Haberstroh 1993). For example, asking a student to use a coping skill in a problem situation, when the student does not know the skill, is generally impractical. On the other hand, once the student has learned and practiced an REE concept, promptinga student to use a tested coping strategy, can prove productive. This application prompting method shows students that they truly do have choices in how they respond to problem situations, and can experience a sense of reward from applying a new REE taught skill.
